The event was named ‘Heal the World' and took place on the 21st Sep 2014 at Hotel Muscat Holiday. A UNFPA team attended the event representing the United Nations in the Sultanate of Oman. The evening began by first observing a minute of silence for peace which was prescribed in UN Gen Secretary's speech (the video of the General Secretary's message on the International Day of Peace was played at the event). The program continued with a welcome speech from Giyatri, a member of the Rajyoga Centre, and the lighting of candles by various dignitaries.
In essence, the event emphasized the coming together of diverse groups of people to meditate on world peace for a half an hour. In addition there were speeches from the Indian Ambassador and an Oman Sail representative. The speeches were inspired by His Majesty Sultan Qaboos' message of peace and invoked a strong commitment to it. Toward the end of the event, a skit was performed by school girls about road safety. In addition a team of Y-PEER Oman also presented an entertaining puppet show, and concluded the night by singing the famous song ‘We Are the World'.
