In its resolution 65/234 on the follow-up to the International Conference on Population and Development beyond 2014, the United Nations General Assembly decided to convene a special session in order to assess the status of implementation of the Programme of Action of the International Conference on Population and Development (ICPD) and to renew political support for actions required for the full achievement of its goals and objectives.
The 29th Special Session of the General Assembly on the Follow-up to the ICPD beyond 2014, will be held in New York on 22 September 2014 from 1.00 PM to 9.00 PM in the General Assembly Hall. The ICPD beyond 2014 encourages and all members and observer states to be represented at the highest political level at this special session.
