UNFPA GCC Area Office and major partners in Oman met with LG to discuss a partnership that will help in implementation of programmes to the most remote areas
After being approached by LG Electronics and their CSR profile and best partnerships with the UNFPA, the GCC Area Office hosted a high level meeting with major stakeholders from the Ministry of Health Narcotics Division, MOH HIV Section, National Centre For Statistics and Information and Y-PEER Oman.
The bus was brought for viewing and discussion of the potentials for use including HIV testing in remote areas whilst still maintaining privacy and anonymity of patients. Other potential uses included Y-PEER activities that can expand from the current Muscat and Buraimi focused activities and spread the message of Y-PEER and empower more youth in previously untapped regions.
The first planned event for this bus will be World AIDS Day 2012, to begin an exciting new partnership with the private sector and expand the scope and reach of UNFPA's mandate.
