UNFPA to host the first Puppetry Theater Training of Trainers in Oman beginning next week. This landmark initiative will bring together adults and youth from different walks of life giving them a new form of expression
UNFPA GCC Area Office will begin the first Puppetry Theater Training of Trainers in Oman on the 8th of may. This intensive 5 day workshop will commence with participants from the Oman Association for the Disabled, Teachers from the Early Intervention Center for Children with Disability, trainers from the Ministry of Education and members of the Y-PEER Oman network. The workshop will be run by Mr. Mahmoud El Hourani of the Arab Puppet Theater Foundation.
This workshop aims to encompass understanding of puppetry theater and how to manipulate light and shadows, how to build your own puppets and how to create a scene of imagination and wonder whilst delivering a thought provoking message. The foundation has worked with youth around the Arab world, especially displaced youths and those that have come from Crisis situations.
This workshop is the first of its kind in the GCC and the UNFPA is proud to be introducing it as part of the youth and women's empowerment, gender equality and reproductive health awareness initiatives. The final performance will be held at the Auditorium of the Ministry of Education on the 13th of May, and will show the fruits of the 27 hard working participants.
