The UNFPA GCC office, in collaboration with the National Committee for Narcotics and Psychotropic Substances (NCNPS), organized a three-day workshop on Drug Addiction Aftercare Treatment conducted for the physicians, social workers, psychologists, physicians, social workers and volunteers, aiming at sensitizing them in handling and treating drug addicts.

The training was attended by 35 participants, including Ministry of Health and Ministry of Social Development staff. The workshop's objective is to improve aftercare treatment through gaining additional expertise on the subject and sharing knowledge from experiences of other countries. This workshop took place between the 16th and 18th of June, and it is a follow up training to a similar event from last year that was as well supported by the GCC office in collaboration with NCNPS.

The workshop program included the following topics:

- A refresher introduction to drug addiction, its definition, types, substances involved, and signs of withdrawal. 
- Orientation with concepts and methods of relapse prevention.
- Aftercare for drug addicts.
- Strategies of protection from drugs.
