Y-PEER Peer Education training took place over the weekend welcoming a brand new batch of Y-PEERs into the network.
On Thursday 19/01/2012, the first Y-PEER Peer Education (PE) training of 2012 took place at the Omani Women's Association. The training had 19 participants and 5 Focal Point (FP) trainers, with support from the HIV/AIDS section at the Ministry of Health, who gave a short lecture on the situation in Oman.
As per Y-PEER methodology, the training was interactive, creative and filled with various edutainment methodologies. The newest one was a new game developed to teach about HIV/AIDS, with questions and activities to teach general facts about the virus and to think outside of the box as well as to reduce stigma and discrimination.
The training was very successful with the youths leaving inspired, open, and excited for a year ahead of Y-PEER participation.
